Fresh Inset has been officially ranked #157 in the 2025 FoodTech 500 by Forward Fooding. Selected from over 1,200 applications across 87 countries, this ranking places Fresh Inset in the Surplus & Waste Management category, recognised for extending the shelf life of fresh produce and reducing postharvest food loss.

The FoodTech 500

The FoodTech 500 is a global ranking of the most innovative companies at the intersection of food, technology, and sustainability, published annually by Forward Fooding. Since 2019 it has received over 11,700 applications from more than 180 countries.

Selection is rigorous. Each applicant is evaluated on business size, digital footprint, and sustainability practices – not on funding raised or media coverage. Companies that have made the list have collectively raised more than USD 33 billion in investment and created an estimated 75,700 jobs worldwide.

For growers and supply chain operators, a company on this list signals one thing: the technology works, and the market knows it.

The $540 billion crisis technology is asked to solve

The global food system is at a breaking point. According to the FAO, one-third of all food produced is wasted or lost. This is not just a sustainability issue; it is a financial drain. Food waste costs the retail supply chain the equivalent of 33% of business revenueUSD 540 billion annual opportunity if addressed.

By 2030, the global economic cost of this waste is projected to reach USD 3.4 trillion. For fresh produce, every hour of unprotected shipment means lost weight, deteriorating quality, and eroded margins.

Forward Fooding identifies the arrival of FoodTech Wave 3.0: Integration over Disruption.

Growers, packers, and suppliers need technologies that integrate seamlessly with their existing operations, requiring no new equipment, no high-tech sealed rooms, and no disruption to harvest schedules or shipments.

Fresh Inset effectively addresses this issue

Fresh Inset’s Vidre+® technology protects the quality of harvested fruits, vegetables, and flowers. Applied as a simple self-adhesive label or package imprint, requiring no changes to existing infrastructure.

It integrates seamlessly into any packing line, at any scale, from day one. It addresses a real need across the entire supply chain from farm, through packhouse, to retailer. The FoodTech 500 ranking at #157 – in the Surplus & Waste Management category – confirms that Fresh Inset is operating in exactly the space the industry has identified as critical. For Fresh Inset, this is validation. For the food system, the work has only just begun.

Beyond freshness, Vidre+ makes it simple, affordable, flexible and profitable to protect your fruits, vegetables and flowers
